CANCELLED Pleasant Hills Star Party, 7:30 PM, October 2, 2015

August 26, 2015 by DeSantisK

Cancelled – Update of October 2, 2015

Tonight’s Pleasant Hills Library Star Party has been cancelled because of the weather, not to mention the clouds and more clouds. Did I mention clouds? At this time there is no rain or make-up date planned. We will try again next year and have discussed moving the star party date back into the July / August / September time frame.
A big thank you to those who were going to participate.

UPDATE: September 9, 2015

Change of Venue for Pleasant Hills Library – Third Annual Star Party

Star Party presented by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh

October 2, 2015 – Rain Date – Unknown at this time

Time 7:30 – Presentation “What YOU Can See of the Solar System” by Fred Klein.

I have been working with the Library Activities Director and convince her to relocate the site of the Star Party. It will now be held in at Breisinger Field.  It’s a baseball field with 60% more open sky and much easier to get to.

There is only one easy way to get there and that’s via Rout 51. Whether you’re traveling North or South on Route 51, you will turn on East Bruceton Road at Kmart/BP Gas Station.

Coming from Bethel Park/South Park, continue on Curry Hollow Road. Turn right at the “Clover Leaf” and head south on Route 51. Walgreens is your landmark to exit onto Route 51.

Coming through West Mifflin on Lebannon Church Road (Rt. 885), make the loop and head south on Route 51.

Once you are on East Bruceton Road drive up about ¼ mile and turn left on Winiford Drive. You can’t miss the ballpark on the left. Please pay attention to the signs as you enter the parking lot.

Fred will give his presentation in the Pleasant Hills Borough Building meeting room which is located adjacent to the field.

The coordinates for the center of the ballfield are 40.329954, -79.952038
